Vista - Microsoft Communities Bugs in Vista Windows Mail RC2?

1. The sign in button does nothing that I can tell.
2. When I post I get a message to the effect that community features won't
be applicable unless I sign in. Pressing Yes just brings up the message
again. Pressing No breaks the loop and appears to send the message.

The team has a bit more work to do before Release To Manufacturing.

Incidentally, the team still has work to do if this is a user error or RTFM
situation. Windows Mail should not require reading the manual. IMHO that's
the hallmark of good software. If I need to configure something to make this
feature work, it should send me to the wizard or tell me what to do. It
should not loop. The Sign In button should not be dead.

The "community ratings feature" is the first thing I turn off
in Windows Mail. For me, it has proved to be utterly useless
and problematic.

Hm, it should pop up the sign-in window when clicked. And it should
change to a sign-out button if you are currently signed in. At least
when you are working on a news account that supports the Community
features. Is that the case?

Did you by chance disable the Community Features in the properties of
that news account? You should not see the error message then, but it
might explain, why no sign-in window appears. As you describe it, the
behaviour is a bug, in my eyes.

Trouble is they are mainly working on Windows Live Mail Desktop already. :-(

Thanks for the response.

1. I'm in the "Microsoft Communities" news groups at least according to
"Windows Mail." The button is dead.

2. The community features are not only enabled, my "Live ID settings" i.e.
my hotmail account are baked in. (Your question threw me for a loop. Those
of us who are going to support WM need to figure out solid language to
describe the new stuff.

3. Mr. Gates should have never released the team for other work until we
were done testing. RC2 is the first release of WM that even began to get up
to snuff.
