| | Printing a Contact Group including name and e-mail address I have a contact group (about 60 names) that I want to print and give to a friend. I would like this printout to include both contact and their e-mail address -- Cathy |

| | Re: Printing a Contact Group including name and e-mail address Windows Mail has no option for exporting or printing a selected group. All you can do is export all contacts to a CSV file, open that file in Excel, and edit/print as desired. If you don't have Excel, you can edit the file in Notepad. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Cathy in Arizona" <CathyinArizona@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:3C5B1666-36EF-417E-8629-823E0F04C59A@xxxxxx Quote: >I have a contact group (about 60 names) that I want to print and give to a > friend. | | Re: Printing a Contact Group including name and e-mail address When you say contact and their e-mail address I assume you are talking about the *contact name* and e-mail address. If you wanted to include all information in your contact files you can. For the quickest way until you edit your contacts. Open windows mail and create a new message. Click To: and add the group to the message and go ahead and fill in the Subject: field. Now all you will see in the To: field is the name of the group. Click on File then Save. This will save your message to your Drafts folder in WM. You can now close the new message window. Now go to your draft folder and click or double click the message you saved. The message will open. In the To: field you will see the names and address of the group separated by ( go to the end of the list of namesin the To: field and click so the insertion point is blinking. Now using the Shift key and mouse move the insertion point to the beginning of the To: field for that group (Shift Click) this will highlight or select all the names and address. Now Right click the selected text and choose Copy from the context menu. Move to the body of the message window and click in it so you see the blinking insertion point. Right click and from the context menu select paste. This will paste all the names and address's in the body or the message window. Now highlight/ select the To:Field and Cut all the names and address. You can now go ahead and edit all the names and address if you want to, to a top to bottom list. Just click and Enter. (Note: that everything you see as to contacts is based on how you have organized your contacts files.) Now send this email message to your self plus the person you want to have this list, if you want. When you open the message you sent your self you can print it, copy to another app generally do anything you want. In order to Print these groups directly from your contacts folder you would need to edit the contact file of each person in a group using Properties. You can open the contact file and in the Notes field or Title field or any field of your choosing add the gp name. In the Note field first line of the contact I would ,add ,by example *My Group. If this person is a member of other groups say the Card Group I would place that group name in the note field as **Card Group right after the *My Group. Once you organize your contact files consistently you can use your contacts folder which is a Window Explorer by adding the heading in the headings column to correspond to the prosperities you have filled in. So now I would open the contact folder and add the Note Property to the heading column and by clicking the notes column to sort I would see every contact that was in the *My Group group and alphabetically. I then could select all the *My Group from the notes field and on the command bar choose Print. From the Print dialog I would choose my printer (I use the XPS document writer) this gives me a chance to edit the print job before I print, if I don't like what I see, Plus I can copy it to another app if I choose, for more precise editing. Bottom line is how well you organize and your consistency in your organization of your contact files will make doing anything with contacts a little quicker, simpler and more precise.
