Not receiving all e-mails and duplicate mails arriving

I'm having trouble with Windows Mail. I'm currently running Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1. I will receive an e-mail, open it, read and file it. A few days later the same e-mail arrives again. This does not happen with all e-mails. I also have attempted to send myself e-mails from my work station and they never arrive. My wife found this error message today when she attempted sending herself an e-mail from work:

host smtp.where.secureserver.net[64.202.166.12] said: 550
sorry, mail to that recipient is not accepted (#5.7.1) (in reply to RCPT TO
command)

Two problems, are they related? How do I fix them? Thank you for your assistance.

Re: Not receiving all e-mails and duplicate mails arriving

The errors may be related, but they sound like there is a problem
with your account on the server. I don't see a problem with your
Windows Mail program. Who is your home mail service provider?
When messages don't arrive in your Windows Mail, are they available
on your provider's webmail interface?

Re: Not receiving all e-mails and duplicate mails arriving

Are all of the messages found in the inbox of the account's webmail page?
Are there dupes there, too?

Duplicates are only appearing on my home computer not on the webmail page.

Re: Not receiving all e-mails and duplicate mails arriving

The 5.7.1 error from smtp.where secureserver.net indicates any of several
problems with 1) the server, 2) your account on the server, 3)the mail
you're trying to send, or 4) the address you're trying to send it to. If a
virus were attached to the mail she tried to send herself and the server
virus scanner caught it, for instance, she could get that message. Another
guess: your wife's e-address has somehow gotten catagorized as "junk" to her
work spam filter, and that's why she can't send mail (5.7.1). This is just a
theory, but as theories go it has some explanatory power for insights such as
the discovery that installing a new email client gets rid of the problem for
a while. You both might want to try that just to see if it changes the
problem(s) symptoms for either of you.

Good luck,
