| | Seeing ONLY my own messages in newsgroups in Windows Mail I recall using Outlook Express earlier to view my messages/threads in this newsgroup. Recently I installed Vista, and finally got tired of the web interface, so I'm reading my messages in Windows Mail. I can d/l messages all right, and mine come out red (instead of the default black)--but there are so many replies every day. How can I keep Windows Mail from showing me every single reply to every single message that comes into this group? I really only want to view mine. Thanks. |

| | Re: Seeing ONLY my own messages in newsgroups in Windows Mail How would you like to not only read every single message in this newsgroup, but also compose a technically accurate reply for many of them? ;-) If you only want to see the ones you wrote, you can sort the messages by the author's name (click on the From column header). -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Paul" <nospam@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:FD0410E4-96FE-46CB-837D-DA966B4B2957@xxxxxx Quote: >I recall using Outlook Express earlier to view my messages/threads in this > newsgroup. | | Re: Seeing ONLY my own messages in newsgroups in Windows Mail Thanks for the reply. Doing that only sorts them in alphabetical (or reverse alphabetical) order. I'd like to view only my own messages. I remember doing this with Outlook Express, but don't recall what I did. Di you really filter away all if the replies you received for your postings/questions? What you want to have can easily be done by defining a view for filtering on your own postings. For a very long time (since early OE) I have been using the following: a) Create a rule - condition: message contains <myname> in the field "from"; - actions: * mark it with the color green * and mark as read * and mark the message as watched (sorry if the wording is not 100% correct, it's my translation from German). This rule also has the effect that all replies in my posting are marked as "watched". b) Create a view View | Current View | Define Views condition: message contains <myname> in the filed "from"; action: show name: My stuff By selecting the view from the drop-down list "Views" (right corner of the tool-bar) or from the menu View | Current View you can filter for your own stuff. In addition I am using another view called "Watchdog" based on messages being marked to be watched. This way it's just a clock in the drop-down list and selecting "Watchdog" or "My stuff" to see only what I want. HTH If any further question, pls ask. Rainald |
