Vista - Vista lost email book

Hi!
I have been trying for close to a month to figure out how to get Vista to
display email addresses from the 'address book' or the contacts list, in a
much more efficient manner.
At the moment, when I go to create an email and click the 'To' button, every
single email address entered into the contacts list is displayed.
I liked the way outlook express had it set up, email addresses could be
entered into sub-folders so that they were in a more logical list.
(family/friends/business/etc...).
Now when viewing a contacts list, the sub folder are shown... but, what I
would really like to be able to do is click that To button, see the address
sub folders, and select the recipient from that sub folder list.
The windows help and support screen can't find the info I am looking for and
many attempts at trying to get the same sort of recipient selection that
outlook express gave has failed with what appears to a backward step taken
by 'Windows Mail'.

Has anyone found a workaround for this ?

Your sub-folders in OE are called Groups in Windows Mail.
You can create groups, each with a name i.e. business, relatives, friends
etc. Once the groups are created, you can enter the contact names into each
group.
When you compose an e-mail, you can click TO, scroll to locate the group,
open it, and select the names.
How to create contact Groups :
Open Windows Mail > Toolbar, click Contact > click New Contact Group. Follow
instructions from then on.

You can create folders for the contacts, but Windows Mail will not show
them when you click on To:, CC: or BCC:

However, you can do it bassackwards if you have folders... open your
Contacts folder, open your sub-folder, select your recipient(s),
right-click, select Action - Send Email

and, you can create Groups, which are mail lists of selected contacts.

I do have groups set up... but all the contact names appear in the same list
as the groups themselves.
A bit of a mix.. but what the heck.

I have to agree... it is a bit bassackwards.
Works only for one email address at a time...

a bit cumbersome to say the least.. but what the heck... it's all
microsoft...
