| | Can receive emails but unable to send emails in Windows Mail Hi, I hope someone may be able to help. I have been setting up mobile broadband (02) and anti virus software (Mcafee) today on my laptop which is fine except for my email. I can receive emails with no problem but I am unable to send emails. This is the error message that I get: An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 aamtaout03-winn.ispmail.ntl.com connection refused from [82.132.136.199]', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67 I don't know whether it is something to do with the virus protection/firewall, something to do with the email settings (which I have checked) or maybe something to do with the mobile broadband or something else. I have tried sending email with temporarily switching off the email virus checker, etc but this didn't work either. I hope someone can help if possible. Hope I've given enough info. Thanks, Sarah |

| | Re: Can receive emails but unable to send emails in Windows Mail You cannot send via ntlworld's SMTP server (via Port 25, at least) if you're not connected to the internet via ntlworld. | | Re: Can receive emails but unable to send emails in Windows Mail "Unexpected" termination is usually caused by interference from an antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running? As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off, although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects. In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled. Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons explained here: http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly intrusive antivirus programs: http://download.live.com/wlmail -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Sarah" <Sarah@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:1681AB6C-4BB8-44B7-BCC6-20657112E764@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi, I hope someone may be able to help. > I have been setting up mobile broadband (02) and anti virus software > (Mcafee) today on my laptop which is fine except for my email. > I can receive emails with no problem but I am unable to send emails.
