| Guest | Re: can't send email with attachment in windows mail I have changed it back to 465 and I have even done the telnet tests and both the incoming and outgoing cleared the screen so it shouldn't be being blocked based on that test. -- rachel "Patrick Keenan" wrote: Quote: > "rachel" <rachel@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:5D275021-0DC9-4F04-92F1-B00186CA97F5@xxxxxx Quote: > >I see this is one of many having this problem. If the mail just has to get out, use the gmail web interface. If sending the attachment it fails there, you can be assured that the problem isn't with Windows Mail. | Guest | Re: can't send email with attachment in windows mail I don't think it liked me having 25 email addresses in BCC field because when I removed them and tried to send to one person in the To field it went thru. Is there some rule as far as how many names you can have in the To, CC, and BCC field? | Guest | Re: can't send email with attachment in windows mail Windows Mail does not impose a limit, but I'm sure Gmail does. When you had the 25 in the BCC field, did you have your own address in the To field? Some mail servers insist on a non-empty To field. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "rachel" <rachel@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:102AEFAA-753B-4765-A2F5-27C5C3FD1BEA@xxxxxx Quote: >I don't think it liked me having 25 email addresses in BCC field because when > I removed them and tried to send to one person in the To field it went thru. > Is there some rule as far as how many names you can have in the To, CC, and > BCC field? > Thanks > > -- > rachel > > > "Patrick Keenan" wrote: > Quote: >> "rachel" <rachel@xxxxxx> wrote in message >> news:5D275021-0DC9-4F04-92F1-B00186CA97F5@xxxxxx Quote: >> >I see this is one of many having this problem. | Guest | Re: can't send email with attachment in windows mail Hello! I think it's completely blocking because Gmail is saying it's spam and solicitation. I had a valid email address in the To field but I am now getting an error on the actual gmail site. It does send now with attachments if I use the To field only. I believe the telnet thing helped and adding the Windows Mail to my firewall and enabling it. Nevertheless it does seem to be working now. Thank you -- rachel "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > Windows Mail does not impose a limit, but I'm sure Gmail does. > When you had the 25 in the BCC field, did you have your own address in > the To field? I regularly send legitimate mails that look exactly like spam - a simple mail with an attached document, addressed to me, with a BCC list of between a dozen and a couple of hundred recipients. It's taken an amount of careful work to make sure that the mail gets through. I use a paid 3rd party mail provider who is aware that my purposes are legitimate and don't block my mails, but even so, some of the recipients have to have my address explicitly whitelisted by their IT groups or mail administrators or they will never receive the mail. So, you need to consult with your mail provider, and make clear to the recipients that mail from you is legitimate. If you manage to trip spam filters often enough to get your email address on a blacklist, it can take quite some time to figure out where the problem is and then longer to get it fixed.
