Outlook Express Sent File

I get an error message - an unknown error has occurred - when I try to delete
anything in my Sent folder. The folder has almost a year's worth of mail and
I'd really like to clear it out!

Re: Outlook Express Sent File

Outlook Express is not found in Vista. Do you mean Windows Mail?

Yes, PA Bear...I guess it IS Windows Mail. All other computers in the house
are running XP...I forget this one is Vista. But I still have the
question/problem!

Re: Outlook Express Sent File

Well, the solution is very much dependent on the exact mail client version.
If you have not already installed Vista's SP1, do so now because it
includes a fix for that problem.

If Vista's SP1 is already installed, try running the various repair functions
in the WMUtil program: http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil

If no improvement, upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

Re: Outlook Express Sent File

What Gary said.

Question: Did you import the contents of your old computer's OE Sent Items
folder into Windows Mail?

General Windows Mail User-Caveats:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Do not cancel Automatic Compacting, should it occur, and do not attempt to
close Windows Mail via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic
Compacting is taking place.

- Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It can cause
corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and provides no additional protection:
