Cannot send but can receive emails

When I click on send and receive, my emails will not send from my outbox.
The error message I get is : -

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Order of Service - Mike Jackson',
Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '421 aamtaout02-winn.ispmail.ntl.com connection refused from
[81.146.68.152]', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number:
0x800CCC67

Any ideas?

Re: Cannot send but can receive emails

Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
The box for "My server requires authentication" must be checked.

If no improvement, is your Internet connection being provided by someone
else besides Virgin Media?

Re: Cannot send but can receive emails

Do you get an error message when you try to send? If so,
right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

RE: Cannot send but can receive emails

found the solutions to the problem thanks to gary vandermolen.

basically, you need to use port 465 outgoing and 995 incoming and make sure
those boxes are checked. here's a link that might explain it a lil better
than i do. good luck.

Re: Cannot send but can receive emails

Amazing how well it works when you follow the mail provider's instructions.
