| Guest | Windows Mail ... group EMail I've been trying for a few days to set up a group mail list but keep getting an individual error message back for each address on the list (5.1.1 - Bad destination email address 'invalid domain "": no dot found') I have made individual contacts of each person thati wish to send to (as despite what the help file says about clicking the toolbar and choosing "group" all I ever have available to me is the individual contacts. I then put all of these contacts in one named directory in the contacts folder but this folder is not available to me when I go to send a new EMail. Sure could use some help on this one. |

| Guest | Re: Windows Mail ... group EMail Windows Mail won't see any folders you create. When you have the Contacts folder open, you should have a button on the toolbar for "New Contact", "New Contact Group", Import" and "Export". If you don't see these buttons, the folder template got changed, as it sometimes does... Right-click on a blank area of the right pane, and select "Customize this folder". In the pull-down box, select "Contacts" OK Now you should be able to create a Group, and add contacts to it. -- Windows 7 RC http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview http://download.live.com/wlmail "Rob" <Rob@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:1D01CD36-8A7F-4B79-B567-171F562328C5@xxxxxx Quote: > I've been trying for a few days to set up a group mail list but keep > getting > an individual error message back for each address on the list (5.1.1 - Bad > destination email address 'invalid domain "": no dot found') I have made > individual contacts of each person thati wish to send to (as despite what > the > help file says about clicking the toolbar and choosing "group" all I ever > have available to me is the individual contacts. | Guest | Re: Windows Mail ... group EMail Thank you. You solved the problem of the group contact, however, I still get the individual error message for each person on the list (The following message to <GloriaWan> was undeliverable. The reason for the problem: 5.1.1 - Bad destination email address 'invalid domain "": no dot found' Now, if you could tell me why I'd sure be much obliged. | Guest | Re: Windows Mail ... group EMail Sure do thank you for all your time but I deleted the group, re-entered the Emails (in the proper format) but continue to get the message. What perplexes me here is the "invalid domain" part of the error message. If I blocked spam at some point by blocking a domain could this possibly cause mail to not go through? | Guest | Re: Windows Mail ... group EMail That does not sound like a Windows Mail error message. By any chance are you using Microsoft Outlook? If not, is the error message coming directly from Windows Mail, or is it a 'bounce' notice that appears in your Inbox after sending? -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Rob" <Rob@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:A08BDC0F-2C38-4585-80AB-77E801F968DA@xxxxxx Quote: > For each person on the list I get a " The following message to <name> was > undeliverable. > The reason for the problem: > 5.1.1 - Bad destination email address 'invalid domain "": no dot found' > > The text message (or atleast the title of the text message) that I had sent > is in the "attach" field along with a .dat file. | Guest | Re: Windows Mail ... group EMail It is in fact Windows Mail that I'm using but you could very well be correct that it is a "bounce" (not at all sure what the ramifications are of this) as they do immedietly appear in my inbox after sending. In any case, I'm looking for a solution. "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > That does not sound like a Windows Mail error message. > By any chance are you using Microsoft Outlook?
