try this

go to your yahoo account, click on options, see for pop and forwarding if
found click on it, and there you have your settings! now click just tick on
the said options of your need. thats it and then try again.

Re: setting up windows mail with yahoo settings

Is your Yahoo account free or a paid one? US-based free Yahoo accounts
have webmail access only, no POP access. Windows Mail handles POP
mail but not Yahoo webmail. Yahoo's solution is to pay them for premium
"Mail Plus" service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...iew/index.html
and use the special settings for that service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...op/pop-14.html

If you do have a paid or partnered Yahoo account and you continue to
have sending failure, right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it
into a reply here.
I can't do further troubleshooting without the complete error message.

Re: setting up windows mail with yahoo settings

Hey! I just had the same problem... try this..

got to Tools, then choose "Accounts". Under 'Mail' click on your account
then click on "properties". Once there choose the "servers" tab and check
the box at the bottom "My server requires authentication" Once inthe settings
for this i just chose "Use the same settings as my incoming mail server" It
seems to be working now!

PS yahoo tells you you cant use another program without premium membership
but all it does is not tell you the information you need to set it up...
thats easy to find in a google search but you are already there

hope this works for you!
