| | can't save passwords on POP/IMAP accounts? Hi All: Curious problem...Windows Mail just stopped saving POP/IMAP account passwords today. I've tried different combinations of "OK" and "apply" buttons in account settings, but the password cannot be saved, and I'm prompted to log in each time I start Windows Mail. Box is running Vista sp2, Winmail 6.0.6000.16396 (vista_rtm.061101-2205) The only AV software on this box is Antivir Personal Ed., which AFAIK does not scan email, but may or may not have corrupted something (it's been running for more than a year on this computer so I'm not sure why it would munge something now). Two days ago, six updates were installed, but I had rebooted the computer several times yesterday and the problem just started this morning. Any ideas where to look? --------------= Posted using GrabIt =---------------- ------= Binary Usenet downloading made easy =--------- -= Get GrabIt for free from http://www.shemes.com/ =- |

| | re: can't save passwords on POP/IMAP accounts? Hi: A little more information. It appears other passwords don't work either, like when Groove automatically launches on reboot, I'm now being prompted to log in there as well...seems like something got munged. --------------= Posted using GrabIt =---------------- ------= Binary Usenet downloading made easy =--------- -= Get GrabIt for free from http://www.shemes.com/ =- |

| | Re: can't save passwords on POP/IMAP accounts? Try deleting one of your mail accounts, restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account. If no improvement, do a temporary uninstall of your antivirus, reboot, then try Windows Mail again. If still no joy, try a different email program such as Windows Live Mail. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "knowbie" <no@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%238nmxgsDKHA.4608@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi All: Curious problem...Windows Mail just stopped saving POP/IMAP account > passwords today.
