    ok i upgraded from outlook explorer and i dont have my contacts i had
    previously how do i get those?

    Do you mean Outlook Express?
    If so, the contacts are stored in a .wab file.
    Copy the .wab file from the XP computer to a temporary folder on the Vista
    computer.
    Open Windows Mail
    File - Import - Windows contacts
