Is it still under warrantee, if so take it back to the seller.
If not?
Sounds like you messed up real good?
Take it to, or get a Professional in to look at it.

Or post your question to the following newsgroup:
microsoft.public.windows.vista.general newsgroup.

Re: Windows mail wont close..

Hi kub4n1t0.

When exactly is Windows Mail starting up? When the computer is first started or at other times?

Use 'System Configuration' (Start->Run...->msconfig [type]) or 'Windows Defender'->Software Explorer to see what is starting up with Windows.

Are you doing anything in particular when WMail starts up by itself (such as starting another program)?

Are you using another e-mail program at all?

It appears that something is calling the default e-mail program, which happens to be Windows Mail.

Since you reinstalled Windows Vista, I suspect it is hardware related rather than software, unless you happened to reinstall the offending program.

Has your keyboard got a 'Mail' key or button? If so, it could be playing up. You could connect a different keyboard (turn computer off first), if you have one, to test this. While you're at it, disconnect any other peripherals to rule them out as the cause.

In any case, you can disable Windows Mail so that it cannot be called as the default mail program:

Start->Default Programs->Set program access and computer defaults->[x] Custom [check and expand]->Choose a default e-mail program: [section]->[ ] Windows Mail [leave unchecked]->[ ] Enable access to this program [uncheck]->OK

This will remove Windows Mail from the Default Programs list under 'Set your default programs', and also mark 'WinMail.exe' as Hidden and remove its shortcuts.

You may *not* need to rename 'WinMail.exe'* to 'WinMail.exe.bak'. However, if you do rename it, that should definitely see the end of WMail starting up:

Since 'WinMail.exe' has now been marked as Hidden, you will need to so ensure 'Show hidden files and folders' is checked under 'Folder Options' in 'Windows Explorer'.

If Windows refuses to allow you to rename 'WinMail.exe', you can use a program called 'Unlocker' (http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/) to rename it, or else adjust the permissions of 'WinMail.exe' to give yourself full control over it.

Now, I am not sure that you need to be concerned about the several 'rundll32.exe' Processes running. I have three running on my Vista System at present. I suspect that you were exaggerating slightly when you stated: "...in the task manager, all i could see was a lot of running applications named rundll32.exe".

believe me... i saw a lottt of rundll32.exe, but they eventually stop? i even replaced it witht he one in my notebook.. now i tried the uncheck the default mail thingy and it didnt work, i closed it and still opened.. i cant delete, rename or do anything at all in my Programs and Files where windows mail is.. it says i dont have the permission, now i downloaded spybot and it detected some partnerBHO trojan.. but i formatted like yesterday and i havnt downloaded anything..
also no.. im not using any other email program.. i only have my msn live and hotmail.com where i check my mails, nothing else.. and no my keyboard doesnt have no email button
and idk if my warranty would cover this problems? a friend of mine told me it might be in the registry.. and that the registry is not inside the hard drive so even if i format it would still be having the problem.. but how do i fix it? anyways, thanks for the answers keep giving me advice please

It's not clear how much of a threat that partnerBHO is. You really need to
research it yourself. You should ask in a newsgroup or forum that discusses
things such as that instead of in this newsgroup. More important than that
is searching the internet. I found a couple of pages that might help.
