| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Restoring WindowsMail data from Backup and Restore CP When the hard drive on my wife's Sony Vaio computer satrted to fail, I created backup disks using the Backup and Restore control panel. When the hard drive finally failed, it had to be replaced under warranty by Sony. I would now like to restore the all documents and the data for Windows Mail (messages, local folders) from the backup discs I made, but can't figure out how to do it. When I try to restore files using the control panel, it tells me "there are no backups on this computer." If I try to restore by launching the recovery disc, my only option seems to be to restore all programs and drivers or to reinstall the entire system. Since the hard drive was starting to fail when I made the backup discs, I am reluctant to restore all programs in case the backup was somehow corrupted. (The programs were all put back on the computer by Sony and are working fine, but I don't have old documents, mail messages and such.) Is there any way I can restore only the documents and Windows Mail data from the backup discs. When I explore the recovery discs, the names of the files and folders mean nothing to me. Thanks for any help you can give me. Anthony |
