| | Re: Has this group gone away? Hi, mac. Yours is the only post I see here after 10/28/06 - when "Jeff" sent a barrage of a half-dozen or so. But I've seen no announcement - or even a hint - that this NG would be shut down. RC -- R. C. | | Re: Has this group gone away? Good Morning, mac. Your two messages and my one are here on the morning after Halloween. Maybe you have ghosts or hobgoblins in your computer?? And I see a single unanswered post by "RideRT" after our thread. It's dated 11/1/2006 6:21 AM my time (CST), or "Wed, 1 Nov 2006 04:21:02 -0800" according to its header. Maybe we are all just hunkered down, waiting for RTM. We're doing some housekeeping and trying to keep our computers ready to start downloading at a moment's notice. RC -- R. C. | | Re: Has this group gone away? Hi, mac. I see your first two posts were from OE6 and your latest was from WM. Maybe you lost that first post in switching from WinXP to Vista? That happens to me sometimes when I'm dual-booting, especially if one of my OSes is set to download only the default 300 headers at a time. Or if I have OE set to delete messages, then I don't run Vista for a few days - or vice versa. In email (but not in News), WM has a lot of problems with keeping the messages properly threaded into conversations. At least once every day I have to click View and switch it from "Group messages by conversation", just so that I can see all the Unread messages that don't show up at all when Grouped. And if the unthreaded messages have somehow been marked Read, then I don't even know that they are there! :>( Yes, it has been bugged, and I hope it is corrected in RTM. RC -- R. C. | | Re: Has this group gone away? Hi, Frank. I still see the whole thread (3 from mac, 3 from me and 2 from you) in WM. I haven't been able to run OE for a couple of weeks now because I can't boot WinXP x86. It gets past BCD, Boot.ini, etc., and starts to load WinXP. I see the opening WinXP banner, then a long period of blackness with nothing but a mouse pointer, then the blue screen. NOT the BSOD, but the WinXP logo on a pretty 2-tone blue screen. This should be followed immediately by "Welcome to Windows", then my desktop, but it isn't. It hangs here, even if I wait an hour or more, with sporadic HD light blinking. Even Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work. The Reset button is my only way out. :>( WinXP x64 had the same problem; a repair install fixed that and I might have to do the same with WinXP x86, then put back all the post-SP2 fixes. I don't want to hijack this thread in the WM NG, but I suspect there is a simple fix that I've just forgotten about. If you can remind me or point me to it, I'd appreciate it. RC -- R. C.
