Re: Windows Mail Stops working when send

Do you have Vista's SP2 installed? If not, do so now.
Also, make sure your antivirus program is not configured to scan emails.
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with
Windows Mail over time.

Re: Windows Mail Stops working when send

Thanks for responding. Yes Vista SP2. I'm trying to find where my Windows
Live One Care AV program indicates if it scans my Windows Mail or not.

Re: Windows Mail Stops working when send

OneCare has a dumbed-down user interface that does not tell you
whether it scans emails. Incidentally, Microsoft will be dropping support
for OneCare soon. Microsoft also stopped all development of
Windows Mail since about July 2006. You will be better off upgrading to
the fully supported Windows Live Mail: http://download.live.com/wlmail

Re: Windows Mail Stops working when send

Thanks....... Gary!

Yes, I was aware WM was phased out. Expect I will have to change my mail
program (it has been working OK recently anyway). I recall there was
something going on with MS OneCare. Guess a new AV product is in my future.
Agree, the OneCare user options/controls are few but it worked well
otherwise.

Re: Windows Mail Stops working when send

Microsoft currently has a new antivirus program in beta testing.
It will be free. The current name is Microsoft Security Essentials, see
http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/produ...ials_beta.html
