Re: user name and password

The only username & password required, is the ones required to access your
email account on the server.
You can test to see if you are using the correct ones by going to the
webmail portal to your email account.

Re: user name and password

Did you do what Dave suggested, go to your provider's webmail portal
and test your username and password there?

Re: user name and password

I too am having a problem.

I changed my DSL service with ATT from phone line to the new Router,
and that is connected to my phone line. The TV service is also through
this router from the phone line.

My Vista Windows Mail, for both Send and Received pops up a request for
my user id and my password. I have not needed this since the initial
back in 2007. Nothing I use will work, and I can't find my notes.

Att tells me this is Microsoft having a problem. They can help me with
the ATT/Yahoo.com e-mail. My e-mail worked the night before the change,
and not since.

What do I do now??

Thank you for your help.

Re: user name and password

The thread you are replying to is nearly a month old. Gary's suggestion
seems to have solved the problem. If you did not try Gary's solution then
you should have done that before replying. If Gary's suggestion does not
help then you have a different problem and you should not use this thread
for it.

If you look at more recent messages you will learn that other people
recently are having problems with AT&T with the same symptoms. There might
be a solution there. If there is not a solution there that works, then
either create a new thread or reply to a more recent thread; one that is
also having problems with AT&T and has the same symptoms as you.

If AT&T has forums for it's customers to discuss AT&T (Verizon does for it's
customers) then that would be a better place to go to discuss the problem
and get help.

Re: user name and password

Usually, the router logs into the DSL service. So, did you setup the router
to send the username and password to AT&T?
My router logs into AT&T, has done so since I bought the router, and has
never had this problem.

Re: user name and password

You will have to go through your email provider to have your password
reset - some have a "Forgot Password" link if you go directly to their site
to login. I suspect you had previously used the "Remember Me" features in
your account setup so you didn't have to enter your credentials. Now that
you've switched services, all that got reset to the default values and
that's why you are now being prompted to enter it. Check your account setup
in WM (Tools - Accounts) to see what other info you may be missing (servers,
ports, etc.). Yahoo has some "special" issues (i.e. need paid-for version .
.. . . ). Also, if you cancel out of that login and get any error messages,
you should cut-n-paste them into this for more precise assistance.

Re: user name and password

Have you checked whether your username & password credentials
will work at the AT&T webmail site? For most AT&T users that would
be http://mail.yahoo.com.
Let me know what the result is, and we can go on from there.

Re: user name and password

The OP appears to have the new U-verse service, which carries
TV, phone and Internet on a fiber-optic cable:
