windows mail will not send messages. error comes up about ports

Windows mail will not send messages, it recieves them OK, but an error
message and something about ports and stuff I know nothing about comes up. I
don't know what to do. This has been going on since Oct. 24th or so, 2009.

Don't keep the error message a secret, it is the key to finding what is wrong.
Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
