| | Cannot send Email Here is error message: The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider. The rejected e-mail address was 'johnpdunaway@newsgroup contracting.com'. Subject 'Balance in QuickBooks register', Account: 'Office Manager Allshores Contracting', Server: 'mail.allshorescontracting.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '501 <johnpdunaway@newsgroup contracting.com>: malformed address: contracting.com> may not follow <johnpdunaway@newsgroup ', Port: 26, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 501, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 I don't know why it is mentioning johnpdunaway@newsgroup contracting.com and QuickBooks register in the Subject. The email accounts I am using are from allshores@newsgroup and officemanager@newsgroup. I can receive emails just fine but cannot send out. The email accounts are from Hostgator and I followed the setup the same as I would have for Outlook Express. |

| | RE: Cannot send Email I cannot send mail for the past 2 days either, getting similar error message: The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: Thanksgiving dinner -', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'SMTP.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10013, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E This particular "Thanksgiving dinner" email has been going back and forth for several days. Now, with no changes in my computer, emails, or service, I am no longer able to send mail. ??? What is going on with Windows Mail? The price of computers, software, and internet services is expensive enough. Shelling out the money and then not being able to use the products is extremely frustrasting!!! I have never had this type of email error. Please help. "blake" wrote: Quote: > Here is error message: > The message could not be sent. | | Re: Cannot send Email Thanks for including the complete error message. It makes troubleshooting relatively easy. Comcast made some changes in their email settings. Follow these steps: http://www.comcast.com/Customers/FAQ...s.ashx?Id=2288 Note that the outgoing server now requires port 587 rather than port 25. Also, "My server requires authentication" must be checked. Although those instructions were written for Outlook Express, Windows Mail uses the same settings. -- Gary VanderMolen, Microsoft MVP (Mail) http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/def...le/vandermolen "readysetgo" <readysetgo@newsgroup> wrote in message news:A54C35CC-C2D9-471F-B6B9-E3B5A63E54E4@newsgroup Quote: >I cannot send mail for the past 2 days either, getting similar error message: > > The connection to the server has failed. | | RE: Cannot send Email I had the same problem with sending mail.i could receive, but could not send. It was my belkin router causing it. it needed to be updated.I called Belkin and they walked me through the solution. I never would have thought of that causing it.Anyone that has a belkin router can call 1-800-223-5546 and tell them you need a firmware update. You will have to have the model # of your router. I hope this helps you or anyone having the problem.Let me know.........Darla "readysetgo" wrote: Quote: > I cannot send mail for the past 2 days either, getting similar error message: > > The connection to the server has failed.
