Re: Email Errors

To resolve this behavior, change the SMTP server for your e-mail account to use the MSN SMTP server. To do this:
  1. In Outlook Express, click Accounts on the Tools menu.
  2. Click the Mail tab, select the account that you want to change, and then click the Properties button.
  3. Click the Servers tab.
  4. Under Server Information, delete the entry that is in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, and then type smtp.email.msn.com.
  5. Under Outgoing Mail Server, click to select the My server requires authentication check box, and then click the Settings button.
  6. Under Logon Information, click Log on using.
  7. In the Account name box, type you MSN Member ID (everything before the at sign (@) of you MSN e-mail address).
  8. In the Password box, type your MSN account password.
  9. Click to select the Log on using Secure Password Authentication check box.
  10. Click OK to close the Outgoing Mail Server dialog box.
  11. Click OK to close the <Mail Account> Properties dialog box.
  12. Click Close.

Re: Email Errors

That's not a send error, it is a receive error.

That symptom is usually caused by interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Re: Email Errors

To troubleshoot this issue, follow these steps:
When you receive of the error messages that the "Symptoms" section of
this article describes, make a note of the name of the server referenced
in the error message.
Click Start, click Run, and then type TELNET servername, where
servername is the name of your mail server.
Click OK. If you cannot connect to the server by using Telnet, there is
a network connection problem to your mail server or to your Internet
service provider (ISP). Contact your network administrator or ISP to
help resolve the connection problem.
If Telnet is successful, click Start, point to All Programs, and then
click Outlook Express.
Try to log on to Outlook Express with your Outlook 2000 mail account.
If you cannot log on by using your Outlook 2000 account, the problem may
be caused by a Winsock or MAPI issue. See contact information later in
this article to contact Microsoft Product Support to help resolve the
issue. If you can log on using your Outlook 2000 e-mail account,
continue to Step 6.
Quit Outlook Express, and then start Outlook 2000.
To remove the existing account, click E-mail Accounts on the Tools
menu.
Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
Click to select the e-mail account, and then click Remove.
Click Finish to close the E-mail Accounts window.
On the File menu, click Import and Export..
Click to select the Import Internet Mail Account Settings check box,
and then click Next.

Outlook finds and imports your account from Outlook Express.
Quit Outlook 2000, and then restart Outlook 2000.
