    I want to de-select Windows mail as my default mail handler

    how do i do it.

    the button to do it is greyed out !

    You can't deselect it, but you can set another mail program as the default.

    Start menu or (Control Panel)>Default Programs>set your default
    programs>wait for the list to populate>set your default mail program of
    choice.
