Vista - nntp not working in windows mail

i cannot get windows mail to acquire the msnews.microsoft.com newsgroups. i
keep getting an error

"your NNTP server has not responded in 60 seconds. would you like to wait
anotehr 60seconds for the server to respond?

Account: Microsoft Communities
ServerL: msnews.microsoft.com"

i have waited more times than i can count with no luck.

i am also having other minor network issues with Vista RTM as well.
including not able to run the updates on the free avg AV scanner. they keep
timing out as well. i can not connect to DDO either as it keeps timing out
also.

i am able to browse the net and everything else just fine though. so a
liitle insight would be great thanks.

All MS servers have been having off-and-on problems since Vista RTM was made
available to MSDN subscribers. Keep trying.

It sounds like a non-Winmail issue, if you are having other connection
problems.

Try rebooting.

i have figured out the problem. it had to

- Click start
- Type: cmd
- Right-click cmd.exe when it appears under Applications
- Click Run As Administrator
- Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
- Press enter
- Restart your computer
