| | Windows Mail and Newsgroups When you select a newsgroup in Windows Mail, and if you have unread messages in that newsgroup, the program ALWAYS will select the first unread message and mark it as read. Why? That's very disturbing to me. Outlook Express 6 does not select as read the message until you don't press in the list of messages. Does anyone know any solution to fix that? Thank you. |

It annoys me, too. It doesn't mark it read if you don't have the Preview Pane open. I always do in News. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup. Don't send mail. |

| | Re: Windows Mail and Newsgroups That creates a greater problem for most users, in that if they chose that option, they now have to select all those messages in a newsgroup they desire to mark read and then right click and select the Mark As Read option. For heavy users of newsgroups, it's not a very satisfactory solution. -- Jim Pickering, MVP/Windows Mail applications Please reply ONLY to newsgroup.
