No Contacts and No Auto-Complete

So....so far I seem to have lost 2 functions in Windows Mail that I've
enjoyed in Outlook Express for years. Why can't I display my contacts in the
lower left corner of my Mail window? Even though I have checked the box
saying "auto complete email addresses when typing, etc....." it just doesn't
auto-complete. OE would auto-complete addresses by looking in my address
book. I am really upset at this bull...
Is this Microsofts way of making people pay for Office 2007 and using the
new Outlook? Not a way to make friends. GIVE ME BACK WHAT I USED TO ALREADY
HAVE!! I've spent too long online looking for answers to the two problems
above. How about some answers Microsoft??

Re: No Contacts and No Auto-Complete

They deliberately removed the contacts pane and it won't be returning. You
can add a contacts window to the sidebar as a gadget.

Re: No Contacts and No Auto-Complete

Thanks Steve, what about the auto-complete question?

Re: No Contacts and No Auto-Complete

Autocomplete is working for me. I think someone indicated it only works
once you receive a message from someone, but I don't know.

Re: No Contacts and No Auto-Complete

If that's the case it's certainly a step backward! I can't understand why
they're removing good features that worked for years! This is rediculous !!!!
It sure looks like a ploy to get people to buy Office 2007 and use Outlook,
one of the worst pieces of software ever written IMHO.

Re: No Contacts and No Auto-Complete

might be the difference on how you imported your contact list.
I had problems after importing the WAB file.
but after deleting all and importing CSV all is well.

RE: No Contacts and No Auto-Complete

Long time Microsoft user, first time blogster. Help! I am having the same
problem with my contacts as well. It is defaulting to address book when it
needs to be contacts. I dont know how to solve this problem and it is very
frustrating. Also, the thing that it the most challanging for me is the way
outlook looks, it looks so different from 2003, its smaller and seems to be
brighter and all of my settings are the same. I have only used Vista for 2
hours but it left me frazzled. If anyone has some insight to how to fix
either of these problems, that would make my day.
