| | Personal Folder Transfer I saved my personal folders and their messages on my old computer to a file named outlook.pst on my removable jump drive. However, when I connect it to my new computer and try to import into Windows Mail in Windows Vista, Windows Mail doesn't recognize the file even though I have selected the correct drive and folder where the file is located. Can someone tell me what I'm missing here? Thanks - RLL |

| | Re: Personal Folder Transfer You cannot import directly from a pst file into Windows Mail without having a Vista compatible version of Outlook installed on the Vista machine. Try exporting your Outlook messages to Outlook Express on the old machine and then you can import the Outlook Express files into Windows Mail. | | Re: Personal Folder Transfer That's exactly what I did, just as you suggested. But I can only export from Outlook to Outlook Express by saving to a .pst file, which I did. Windows Mail doesn't recognize it. | | Re: Personal Folder Transfer Ok, I tried something else you suggested. I copied the .dbx files with 'read only' box unchecked into a documents folder. The folder includes folder.dbx. But still, Windows Vista cannot see the dbx files in my folder. I followed the instructions to the letter. | | Re: Personal Folder Transfer OE cannot read a pst file on its own. If it exported to OE, then you don't care about any pst file then. Why it won't import the dbx files is another issue. Did you copy the dbx files into a directory under the User's space to prevent permissions issues? steve "rll" <rll@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9913BC8D-A1E8-4815-A2B1-A9CCA0D66B5B@microsoft.com... > That's exactly what I did, just as you suggested.
