Windows Mail vs. Outlook Express

I'm running Ultimate dual-booted with XP-Pro. I can't post on the
newsgroups.bellsouth.net newsgroups under Vista/Windows Mail, but can under
XPro/OE.

I get a server error of '441/0x800CCCA9' under Vista but it posts ok under
XP-Pro. (to alt.test, for example)

The newsgroup servers are configured the same under both operating systems.

Any idea what is happening and what I should do?

Thanks!

Ross

Re: Windows Mail vs. Outlook Express

probably bell south not supporting windows mail yet.
have you asked them what's going on.
from personal experience with bell south they are SLOW to support new technology.

That has nothing to do with it.

Re: Windows Mail vs. Outlook Express

They've restricted messages on the servers to those using exclusively
UUENCODED messages, so go to Tools | Options | Send | News | Plain text
format and set it to UUENCODE and not MIME and then see if you can post.

Re: Windows Mail vs. Outlook Express

But I don't really understand this: I would think that Windows Mail would adhere to the NNTP standard. So then, why would BellSouth be able to post a newsgroup article if it came from XP as opposed to Vista?

I'm confused! Realistically, this is not the BellSouth problem but rather a Vista problem?

Re: Windows Mail vs. Outlook Express

seems a little funny your response supports the bell south problem in restricting posting format.
just as I said it was a bell south problem.

Re: Windows Mail vs. Outlook Express

No, because its not a vista issue. Its a NNTP issue.

You said "probably bell south not supporting windows mail yet.", which is not correct.
