Using Stationery In Windows Mail

I make my own stationery and used it in Outlook Express. I now use Windows
Mail. Apparently Windows Mail changes the default stationery location for
apparently no reason. It's been in the same location since Windows 95. I have
to re do all my stationery scripts and add the default stationery location to
them, however, I don't know what it is. Cloudeight Stationery is changing
all theirs over, but they don't tell how to do it. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Re: Using Stationery In Windows Mail

At the last minute in the beta they changed the location to the current
message store location.

So its under %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Stationery

I guess they did that to keep everything in one place.

Although the location specified where it use to be specified is here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Stationery

and it says:

%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\Stationery

And that also has stationery examples in it, but I think WinMail is using
the location in the message store.

You might try composing a message with builtin stationery and then look and
see what the Base href is that WinMail inserts. For me, its pointing to the
message store location I referenced in the second line above.

Good way to find out where the message store is. <G>

Re: Using Stationery In Windows Mail

When I make stationery and put the script and graphics in the stationery
folder, how do I get Windows Mail to recognize them? When I select "create
mail", select stationery, only the stationery that were installed with
Windows Vista show up. I can only use the ones I created by selecting
"create mail", "select stationery", and by typing the file path, C:\Program
Files\Common Files, Microsoft Shared\Stationery\name of stationery.

Re: Using Stationery In Windows Mail

Try copying the files you are using for stationery to the stationery
directory under the message store directory and not the common files
location. Windows Mail no longer looks in that location. It is looking in
the new location.

be.........and nothing is called what it should be.........why would they do
this to us?

Re: Using Stationery In Windows Mail

Go to Tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Store Folder and it will
tell you were the message store is located. The stationery directory is a
subdirectory of that directory.

If you compose a message using stationery, then go to View | Source Edit and
click on the source tab and look in the message head for the <Base href and
that is the stationery directory that WinMail is using.
