| | Imap Message Deletion The behavior with Outlook Express, under XP, was that if a message was deleted it would be crossed out and then you would purge the message from the local view which would then remove it from the imap server. Under Vista when you delete the message it is deleted , no purge required, but it is not removed from the imap server. Any thoughts? |

| | Re: Imap Message Deletion Check your options under Tools | Options | Advanced for the IMAP and see if fiddling with that makes any difference. I'm replying out of ignorance, as I don't use IMAP. steve "Kevin Longley" <kwlongley@cirtronics.com> wrote in message news:eG0NTTUTHHA.4764@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > The behavior with Outlook Express, under XP, was that if a message was > deleted it would be crossed out and then you would purge the message from > the local view which would then remove it from the imap server. | | Re: Imap Message Deletion It looks to me like the message is not really deleted in Windows Mail. It is just not shown anymore after you use Delete. As you said, after using Delete the messages are not removed from the IMAP server. But I found that if I go in Windows Mail back to the folder that now shows empty (where I deleted the messages) and I use Purge, this time the messages will be deleted from the IMAP server. So this part works as it should. The problem is that Windows Mail does not show the messages with a strike-thru as it should and as the Help file says. | | RE: Imap Message Deletion I have a message in the sent folder that I cannot delete. It seems to have been sent properly. I even was able to move it to a folder for future reference. Any help would be appreciated. Thx -- Mike V. | | Re: Imap Message Deletion Thanks. This is really working it out. One remark, I found that "show deleted messages" option is available only if I first uncheck "tools/options/advanced/IMAP/use the Deleted Items folder with IMAP accounts" option. | | Re: Imap Message Deletion Your suggestion was very helpful. The deleted emails now appear with a strikethrough line. I like to keep the deleted messages in case I have to go back to it at a later date, but I would like it to not appear in the IMAP Inbox folder along with my new mail. How do I get those deleted messages to automatically go into a Deleted Messages folder? -- Nica P "simiao" wrote: Quote: > Thanks. This is really working it out.
