Check Boxes in Contact List

When I have my Contacts List open....I see 2 headers.....one says "E-mail
Address" and the other says "Name".......if I point at the email address
header a little drop down menu arrow appears....I click on the arrow......I
see a list of all my contacts email addresses with a check box next to each
name. Question: What do those check boxes do? I'm trying to solve the
mystery of why Windows Mail won't look in my contact list and fill in email
addresses as I type them. Thanks for any enlightenment.

Re: Check Boxes in Contact List

The Contacts List is just an Explorer window. If you checked the box next
to one of those addresses you would filter the view on that particular
value. In this case, that most likely means you would just be shown the one
contact. But it's available so you can quickly filter a view on type, date,
etc.

Re: Check Boxes in Contact List

Thanks Keith. Maybe you can answer another question. When I type an email
address it does not "auto-complete" by checking against my contacts the way
good-old OE6 did. I imported my address book as a csv file but no joy. If I
send someone an email and then, later in the day send to the same person, it
will remember the address and auto-complete. But this doesn't last from day
to day. It's a real pain having to type in complete email addresses or go
through the contact list or gadget. Do I need to have an "address book" as
well as a contact list? If you can solve this problem I will sing your
praises! Thanks.
