RE: trouble with newsgroups

I am having the same trouble as Bob. I'm following Comcast's instructions to
the T on setting up a newsgroup account in both Windows Mail and Windows Live
Mail. But, when I get to the point of downloading newgroups, it keeps
prompting me to enter my username and password over and over again resulting
in the newsgroups never getting downloaded. I am using my primary user
account from Comcast. I already tried deleting the account, closing the mail
program, and then coming back and redoing it and that doesn't work either.
Any ideas?

Bob
Why don't you try one of the free newsgroups to see if you can then download
the newsgroups.
All you nee to do is go to Google and search for free newsgroups and try one
of them.
Hope this helps

MachineGun - This is Sandy R (I think Bob finally solved his problem). Thanks
for the reply.

I tried going to a free news service and I have no problem at all. So, now
what?

Re: trouble with newsgroups

Be sure to follow these instructions:
http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/inde...wsgroups118224

Since you're paying Comcast good money for Internet service
which includes a news server, why not call them up and have
their tech support walk you through it.

I had the exact problem that you are having.
I E-Mailed my ISP and it turned out that they discontinued the news server
several months ago.
They said a message was sent out to all customers, but I don't recall ever
seeing it.
Could be your problem as well.

Re: trouble with newsgroups

under the account properties do you have the box checked for REQUIRES ME TO LOG ON under the server tab and the correct information entered there.
required for comcast.
