Mystery Mail

When I open Windows Mail the program states it's receiving mail messages.
It even has the small mail icon in the tray stating how many messages I've
received. However, I can't find any mail messages in any of my mail
folders. They just don't exist. I've sent test messages to myself and I
receive them fine. Also, I receive my regular email. It's just puzzling
what cause these mystery messages.
