email links

I can no longer click on a email link on a website. For instance, I am
looking for a roommate on craigslist, I clicked on the email hotlink. When I
do, an error message appears saying my email client isn't installed
correctly. Small annoyance, but an annoyance none the less.

Try going into Default Programs and selecting Windows Mail as the default email program.

Re: email links

I tried to reproduce the error message you got. When I click on a
mailto link on a website I first get a warning that a website is trying
to open web content. If I click on Allow, the mailto succeeds.
But if I click on Don't Allow (?forgot the exact wording), then it is
followed by the same error message you got (email client isn't
installed correctly). The latter is obviously a bogus error message.
Looks like you found another Vista bug.

Re: email links

format, even though i went through the tedious task of having to go in and
check which program to use for just about everything. not liking vista so
far.

RE: email links

I'm having a similar problem. I tried clicking on someone's email in AOL
instant messenger, but all that happens is, MS outlook opens for a second,
then goes away just as fast. Any suggestions?

Re: email links

Sounds like you need to visit Default Programs.

Re: email links

I already did. Maybe I can test it by clicking an email address from here.

Re: email links

My issue is similiar. I have also made Windows Mail my default mail program.
I get the same error message when clicking on an email link (even one within
an email!). On top of the error message, I suddenly have 40 some odd explorer
windows opening up stating that navigation was cancelled to retype the
address. Talk about a pain...try having to close 40 some odd windows several
times!!!! I hope someone can resolve this issue. Windows Mail is the only
email client I have installed in Vista Ultimate.
