Sharing Calenders - Windows Calender

can someone give me step-by-step instructions on how to share/view another
user's Windows Calender (another user on the same PC). Can you have a joint
calender?

I've tried subscribing to the other user's Windows calender file, but it
doesn't show up on my calender.

thanks,
sd

Re: Sharing Calenders - Windows Calender

no help to explain how to do it.
have exported/imported calendars that then show under File.
you might try under Share, use Publish and browse to a disk folder. then use Share and Subscribe and browse to the same folder.

Re: Sharing Calenders - Windows Calender

Thank you Mike for responding!... I've actually tried that a few times
already and for some reason I can't get it to work. That's why I need the
step by step instructions...I'm either missing something or there's a bug in
the software and I need to wait for a fix.

Re: Sharing Calenders - Windows Calender

Steve - thanks but maybe it makes sense to you because your an app MVP but it
does not give me the detail I need to address my situation. I've read through
the link you sent me several times before and after I posted this question.

"Windows Calendar enables each family member to view the others' calendars,
either selectively or all at once"

How do you do this? Does each family member have to publish their calender
on a website in order for this to work? Or are you supposed to publish to a
public folder on the hardrive? Then what? does each fmaily member have to
subscribe to each individual's published calender? I've tried this and I
couldn't get it to work.

On top of that - there are absolutely no instructions on the "Group
Calender" function. What is it? I accidently dragged a new calender under and
into a "New Group" so I'm thinking it's just a way to group multiple
calenders?

Thanks,
sd

The instructions state you can subscribe to

Re: Sharing Calenders - Windows Calender

I made it work in under 30 secs. And I don't and won't be using the stupid
program. Of course the test is if it updates (have to wait 15 minutes but
found a synch all on the Share menu - it works). It may not work on a
multiuser computer unless you remain logged on. Someone else can test this.

Each person who wants others to know their calandar must publish it. They
must publish it somewhere where all others who may wish to subscribe can
access. This will not be the default location as only the user publishing
can access that. So, probably what the All Users Documents folder was for
(now called public something - it seems to allow write permissions for any
user logged on in person). Make sure you choose to automatically publish and
include those optional things if you want.

Then each user who wants another person's calandar must subscribe to it.
Choose 15 minutes update and the optional items if you want. Repeat for
other calandars. Then choose Synch or Synch All on the Share menu to bring
everything up to date instantly (rather than in 15 min).

It took far longer to type this.

Re: Sharing Calenders - Windows Calender

PS They are coy about it. This one seems to work (Outlook is useless without
an exchange server - delibrate sabotage) so they must want to keep quite
about it working so people continue to buy outlook.)

Re: Sharing Calenders - Windows Calender

Thanks! I'll try it like you suggest. Maybe I didn't wait long enough for the
15min update.

So far I agree with you - it's a stupid program. ; ) Well, it could be a
good program but has missed the mark big-time.

(PS: I thought you were actually an employee of Microsoft. Sorry for
sounding frustrated)

Re: Sharing Calenders - Windows Calender

I'm not the person you were talking too and an MVP isn't a Microsoft
employee but a volunteer. Don't know what groups do. You drag a calandar
over the group to add it. You can't add anything to the group only the sub
calandars.

To each his own, but I find Yahoo Calendar to be much more useful.
I can access it from any computer anywhere in the world.
