| | Windows Mail error message with Inbox deletion problem When I log on to Windows Mail, I get the following pop up message: The message store has been corrupted by an application external to Windows Mail. Windows Mail has been able to successfully recover from this corruption. (0x00000000). When I click on OK, I can still bring up Windows Mail but it wont let me thoroughly delete Inbox messages. When I try to delete a message, another pop up tells me an unknown error has occured. Sending and recieving of messages has not been affected. -- Ken |

| | Re: Windows Mail error message with Inbox deletion problem To avoid further corruption, uninstall your antivirus program: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 Replace it with a better one like the free version of AVG or Avast. Be sure to turn off email scanning in any antivirus program. If you are forced to use Norton or McAfee, don't try to use Windows Mail. Ask corporate IT what mail program you should use and ask them for a copy to install. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Do not send mail. |

| | Re: Windows Mail error message with Inbox deletion problem Then your options are more limited. If the AV is McAfee or Norton, you can forget about running Windows Mail for very long. Try Windows Live Mail, and if that does not work out, Mozilla Thunderbird. | | Re: Windows Mail error message with Inbox deletion problem I *am* using AV and I *do* have all email scanning turned off and just now I got that error. Sounds to me like mine should never had corrupted in the first place. Now what? Sheesh! | | Re: Windows Mail error message with Inbox deletion problem Did you mean AVG? You are quoting from a very old response of mine, and we have learned much since then. Just turning off email scanning is sometimes not sufficient for some antivirus programs. Both AVG and Avast must be installed using the *custom* install option, which allows you to deselect installation of the troublesome email scanning module. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Pip" <Pip@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:3EAB4469-A36F-423E-97BA-6CA8108B91DB@xxxxxx Quote: >I *am* using AV and I *do* have all email scanning turned off and just now I > got that error.
