MS Techs. say they are at least aware something is going on. 3) My new Gateway Vista system is working great, port access is stable on my network for file sharing & I don't want to introduce the potential for new issues to have to spend time studying & fixing if I install CA suite now. If the stuck outbox header comes back a 3rd time, it now only takes a few minutes to correct - down from an hour. 4) I need something & McAfee is the least resistance so might as well be it. 5) I would debate that it is really "very clear" that McAfee is the cause of the problem, I've discovered no facts or reasoning pointing to any identifiable root cause & I spent many hours researching it. Intermittent issues are the toughest. T "Steve Cochran" wrote: > Why do you insist on persisting with McAfee since its very clear that it is > causing the problem? > > steve > |

McAfee and Norton are both incompatible with have a well functioning installation of any version of Windows released in this century. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup. | | Re: fixed unable to delete email problem, now I have new problem I'm sorry Frank. I couldn't understand your response. "McAfee and Norton are both incompatible with have a well functioning > installation of any version of Windows released in this century." I also have the free McAfee on my brand new Dell with Vista Home Premium and have had the same problem. I did a temporary fix until it (probably) reoccured. What Virus program do you recommend for use with Vista. ???? | | Re: fixed unable to delete email problem, now I have new problem <<McAfee..has history of messing up OE and now WinMail.>> Steve (and Frank) - So noted. I have a very short history w/McAfee having used CA's stuff in the past. I'd just like to note no other McAfee issues (internet access, network or e-mail) have cropped up past the simple stuck outbox header that is now easily remedied and may even turn out not to be McAfee's issue, who knows. I didn't have to change a single setting in McAfee out of the box - all the changes out of the box were in WinVista or XP. THAT was aggravating way more than McAfee. I have a pretty plain jane home network. My expectations: Vista should have been plug & play but it certainly was not. | | Re: fixed unable to delete email problem, now I have new problem I have the free version of AVG on one machine, and it's doing well. I am also evaluating another antivirus program which is free for one year: http://home3.ca.com/Microsoft/Defaul...?sc_lang=en-US Gary VanderMolen "Judy" <Judy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:365B00DC-F88F-496A-8658-D4152101369F@microsoft.com... > > I also have the free McAfee on my brand new Dell with Vista Home Premium and > have had the same problem. | | Re: fixed unable to delete email problem, now I have new problem You can certainly install McAfee and use it if you want. I won't let it near any of my machines and the same applies to Norton / Symantec products. steve "Trick" <Trick@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:627C184F-A915-47C2-A55B-A5D48B6C6070@microsoft.com... > <<McAfee..has history of messing up OE and now WinMail.>> > > Steve (and Frank) - So noted. NOD32, or if you want a decent free one, Avast or AVG. Whatever you use, do a custom install and don't include email scanning. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup. Don't expect an answer to email. |
