Unable to delete email

Message Body Reads:
Message could not be displayed
Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this
message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again.

When you try to delete it an error message of:
An Unknown error has occurred.

Running Premier: 2GB MEM. 180GB HD.

RE: Unable to delete email

Had same problem - with ghost emails that I could not delete and got unknown
error. I saw an earlier post that was "readable" and tried it tonight.
first - turn off scan emails in your Virus program
Close windows email
open task manager - processes Tab: end porcess for Winmail.exe Applications
Tab: end Task
Go to Start, All Programs, Accesories, Windows Explorer, Computer, Local
Disc (C), Users, Your name (or whatever you called yourself), AppData, Local,
Microsoft, Windows Mail.

Copy the whole Windows Mail folder to a disc or another location (desktop etc)
You may want to rename this file Windows Mail 2 (this is in case something
goes wrong)

Go back to original windows Mail Folder (see above - the one you just
copies) and locate the file named WindowsMail.MSMessageStore Delete this
file. Then delete the same file in the BackUp folder.

Close all windows and restart the computer.

The ghost email was gone. I was able to send, etc.
This worked for me. Hope it works for you......
And thankyou to Bernice who discovered this fix.

Re: Unable to delete email

See the post by Judy entitled "RE: message will not delete or moved from Inbox".
It has the detailed procedure for fixing that problem
No guarantee that the problem won't come back.

As an alternate, you may want to use a different email program
such as Outlook or Thunderbird.

To add insult to injury, I see Microsoft employees posting helpful
replies in some of the other newsgroups, like
microsoft.public.windows.vista.networking_sharing.
So far, no MS employee has dared to show up in this newsgroup.
It goes to show how much priority WinMail has with Microsoft.

Re: Unable to delete email

First thing is to remove McAfee or Norton AV and antispam from the computer
if they exist. You may need to visit their website to fully uninstall the
product. Then get something less invasive. There are a number of free
antivirus programs, but with any you have to disable email scanning. See
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

After that, the only solution so far is to wipe out the database. So go to
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Advanced | Store Folder to find the message
store location. Then move everything under that Windows Mail directory to
another directory. Then restart WinMail and it will open fresh with nothing
in the database. You can then add your accounts and if they work correctly
then you can use File | Import | Messages and choose WinMail format and
point to the directory to which you moved the files.

Re: Unable to delete email

Hi, I checked out Judy's reply and went through the process and got to users
then my name and could not find the AppData anywhere in there......help
please. It appears neither Microsoft nor Dell feels responsible for this
issue. I have had my Laptop with Vista for two months and turns out it is
just an expensive paperweight....
Thanks for any help you would have for me.

Re: Unable to delete email

In order to see AppData and other hidden folders, go to the
Folder Options applet in Control Panel, click the View tab,
and select "Show hidden files and folders."
