| Guest | Importing Messages from Earthlink I have email messages that I exported from Earthlink Mail in XP and now that I have Vista the Windows Mail program doesn't recognize them for import. I have them saved in .csv format. |

| Guest | Re: Importing Messages from Earthlink Email messages can't be saved in .csv format. That format is used when transferring contacts. | Guest | Re: Importing Messages from Earthlink Thanks for the reply, but I had already saved them as .dat before and couldn't import them. What format should I use then? | Guest | Re: Importing Messages from Earthlink ..dat won't work either. If you can get them saved as individual .eml files would be best. | Guest | Re: Importing Messages from Earthlink Earthlink mail can apparently export only *.dat and *.csv files. But *.dat won't import into Windows Mail. *.csv files can be imported into 2002 version of Outlook Express, then imported into 2002 Outlook, then be imported into Vista's Windows Mail. But *.csv mail files have no dates, and lists mail in random order. Here is a simpler solution proposed by EarthLink chat support [Udale B is EarthLink technician, ?? is yours truly]: "Udale B: You need to Forward those email from Windows XP computer to your own EarthLink email address. ??: Can the existing mail on the XP computer be forwarded to the same Email address? Udale B: Yes, you can forward those existing email on the XP computer to your email address. ??: Will original dates be shown, or will it be the date of forwarding? Udale B: You will be able to get those email with Windows Mail. You will be able to see the Original dates in the text of email message." Sounds "kludgy" but a little better than trudging through OE then Outlook and finally into Windows Mail. > ..dat won't work either. > > If you can get them saved as individual .eml files would be best. > > "Chris" <Chris@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:96A18142-56F8-452E-A0E3-01BAAE9E0569@microsoft.com... > > Thanks for the reply, but I had already saved them as .dat before and > > couldn't import them.
