Contacts folder used by Microsoft Mail

Can not delete any entry in the contacts folder. When I do Windows Explorer
close and restarts.

Permissions look correct I am Administrator and the only user. I have full
permissions.

I tried deleting contacts within Vista mail and from Windows Explorer in
either case Explorer stops working
and restarts

Any Ideas

Re: Contacts folder used by Microsoft Mail

Hi Rey,

See if there are any events registered in the Application event log during the time when Explorer crashed. Reasons for the crash may be determined from the log.

Re: Contacts folder used by Microsoft Mail

Reynald,

Thought it might be a foreign module causing the crash, but it turns out to be mfc42.dll (system file). Try closing down all running applications and see if you can isolate the problem.

Re: Contacts folder used by Microsoft Mail

tried to come up in safe mode....still had the problem
Looks like a Visual C++ module, might not be the real problem though

If I open a command prompt and go to the contacts directory, pick off an
entry I can delete it without
any problems.

I'm also having the same problem. Has anything been done to correct this?

Re: Contacts folder used by Microsoft Mail

I too have the same issue on Vista 32-bit Business Edition. I cannot
delete contacts from the Explorer (it crashes without fail EVERY
time). I am forced to go into the cmd propt and do it manually from
there. It's really annoying, and I'm also frustrated how so many
people have reported this problem and been given the run-around as to
a fix.

Micrsoft should patch this.
