Vista - Syncing info with windows mobile 5.0......

Outlook has always been required to sync data (mail, contacts, notes,
calendar, etc) with a mobile PDA running a version of Windows Mobile --other
than some Palm and other devices that use proprietary software.
Even with XP (and every Windows version before it).
This is nothing new to Vista (or WMDC).
Most Windows Mobile devices come with a licensed version of Outlook on CD.

which so far so good it is but damn it won't sync info with my moto q says i
need to have outlook installed! If this is the "FUTURE" of outlook then WTF.

hey fellow tooelean,

This has nothing to do with vista, it's a design of windows mobile/active sync, and is the same in xp as well. basically, it uses outlook to sync your email and contacts and such, if you uncheck the option for syncing whichever of those components it is that uses outlook, it'll sync without giving you any errors. though, most phones with a windows mobile OS, such as the Q for example, usually include a version of outlook on the software cd that comes with the phone. It'll work with any recent version of outlook 2002 or newer, but they usually include that on the software cd for those who dont have outlook.
