| | Same boring problem - unable to delete from OUTBOX Simply trying to put a recent date regarding this locking up of files in Windows Mail. I have seen some simple solutions listed. They seem to work in limited cases. I have also seen the suggested editting of the windows mail database. I'm tempted to try it, but as the problem is not on my computer I'm reluctant to act. Would be grateful for any positive help. Are we likely to have a solution when the Service Pack 1 arrives (July 2007(8))? -- Popeye |

| | RE: Same boring problem - unable to delete from OUTBOX I am having the same problem, it's very frustrating as it does not allow me to send. Therefore, I am forced to go to webmail. All the e-mails I have to send in Windows Mail cannot be transferred to webmail, I'm back at square one. This is very frustrating. I can't get any work done and what really ticks me off is there is no one to talk to about this damn problem. Therefore, nothing is solved. Did you, can you, share how you solved your problem, please? -- Bonnie "Longjohnbaldy" wrote: > Simply trying to put a recent date regarding this locking up of files in > Windows Mail. > I have seen some simple solutions listed. | | Re: Same boring problem - unable to delete from OUTBOX I am having the same problem, I can't send emails, but can receive. I have deleted all of the emails in the outbox except one. I am getting "an unknown error has occured" and will not allow me to delete this message. Any suggestions on how to clear this email or any fixes that you can recommend? | | Re: Same boring problem - unable to delete from OUTBOX Try creating a new email account with the same settings as your existing one, then delete the existing account. However, I don't have a whole lot of faith that this will cure the problem. It doesn't look like Microsoft is coming out with a fix for this anytime soon. Once you have a message stuck in the Outbox, and it is preventing you from sending any new messages, your options are limited: 1. Do all sending from a web-based mail service, like Hotmail, Yahoo, or Gmail. 2. Switch entirely to a different email program like Outlook, or the free Mozilla Thunderbird. 3. Try the database deletion/regeneration fix advocated by Dave Cochran: "Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Advanced | Store Folder to find the message store location. Then move everything under that Windows Mail directory to another directory. Then restart WinMail and it will open fresh with nothing in the database. You can then add your accounts and if they work correctly then you can use File | Import | Messages and choose WinMail format and point to the directory to which you moved the files." | | Re: Same boring problem - unable to delete from OUTBOX Unfortunately, this seems to be the latest: First thing is to remove McAfee or Norton AV and antispam from the computer if they exist. You may need to visit their website to fully uninstall the product. Then get something less invasive. There are a number of free antivirus programs, but with any you have to disable email scanning. See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 You can also try compacting and repairing the database using my WMUtil program (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/). After that, the only solution so far is to wipe out the database. So go to Tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Store Folder to find the message store location. Then move everything under that Windows Mail directory to another directory. Then restart WinMail and it will open fresh with nothing in the database. You can then add your accounts and if they work correctly then you can use File | Import | Messages and choose WinMail format and point to the directory to which you moved the files. steve "Longjohnbaldy" <Longjohnbaldy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news 6D56B27-783F-4349-8313-6909CBED1D77@microsoft.com...> Simply trying to put a recent date regarding this locking up of files in > Windows Mail. > I have seen some simple solutions listed.
