| | Mail not sending I have a problem with Windows Mail in that when I compose and send an email it does not send but just sits in the Outbox unsent. I have checked the 'sent' tab in options in Mail and all seems fine. 'Send and receive' does not give and error messages but mail does not send! The emails were working when I 1st set up the computer a week ago but will not send now. There are no big files, most have no attachments and to a single email address. I have contacted the PC co (Medion) who says it is a ISP issue, and the ISP (TalkTalk) say webmail is working so is not an ISP problem! HELP! |

| | Re: Mail not sending Temporarily uninstall your antivirus program, reboot, and try Windows Mail again. If the problem still exists, your email accounts may have become corrupted. Delete them, close WinMail, reopen, then recreate your email account(s). | | RE: Mail not sending Mark, I had the same problem -- new computer, mail being received and sent very nicely, then boom -- the mail stayed in my outbox. I looked at the messages I was trying to send. The first one was a forward of a message sent to me by Thrifty Car Rental. It showed no information in the message -- definitely wasn't a forward of the original message. I deleted it. I hit "send/receive" and everything I've composed in the last 12 days went out. That was it. Simple, at least for now, thank goodness. Good luck! | | Re: Mail not sending First thing is to remove McAfee or Norton AV and antispam from the computer if they exist. You may need to visit their website to fully uninstall the product. Then get something less invasive. There are a number of free antivirus programs, but with any you have to disable email scanning. See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 You can also try compacting and repairing the database using my WMUtil program (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/). After that, the only solution so far is to wipe out the database. So go to Tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Store Folder to find the message store location. Then move everything under that Windows Mail directory to another directory, so that the Windows Mail directory is completely empty. Then restart WinMail and it will open fresh with nothing in the database. You can then add your accounts and if they work correctly then you can use File | Import | Messages and choose WinMail format and point to the directory to which you moved the files. steve "Mark Bates" <MarkBates@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2BCBBB4B-6B2C-4651-8F89-FB446CAD6BA4@microsoft.com... >I have a problem with Windows Mail in that when I compose and send an email > it does not send but just sits in the Outbox unsent. > > I have checked the 'sent' tab in options in Mail and all seems fine. | | Re: Mail not sending This is apparently caused by a corrupt message in this case. I used to have the same problems with Outlook Express as well.
