| | Recently Changed: Unable to open .jpg files from WM I have WM set to read in plain mail only, but have always been able to click on the attachment icon on the right side of the info bar, click on the .jpg attachment and choose 'open' in the resulting dialog in order to view the image with Photo Gallery. In the last few days, doing this has resulted in the dreaded File Association Error Dialog. I can view the .jpg if I select "View/Message in HTML". I can also view it if I open the email and drag the file to my desktop, then click on it, no problem (with the default association, Vista Photo Gallery). This seems to apply only to .jpg files. I can open .gif & .bmp files without issue. Same with .wmv, .mpg, etc. Only .jpg, and the icon in the attachment list is just a white, generic page. I'm baffled. It's almost as though WM has its own file associations. Any ideas? Thanks, mxh |

A very simple fix and it worked like a charm! I had installed iexif and it seemed to hijack the key (it read: iexif.image). The strange thing is, I would have thought that the registry entry you referred me to would have changed the association systemically, but .jpgs outside of WM opened normally (in PG). At any rate, the icon is back to normal in the attachment list and all is well. Thanks for your help! mxh |
