Even if we give you an answer, you'll probably not find it with that EggHeadCafe software. | | But XP lets you set webmail as the default XP allows you to set the email as the default. At which point when you clicked on a link to send mail it would open the webmail option (in this case MSN) and you could send the mail from there. But Vista as far as I can tell does not allow for this. Why I do not know, especially because Windows Mail sucks. EggHeadCafe - .NET Developer Portal of Choice http://www.eggheadcafe.com |

| | Re: But XP lets you set webmail as the default If Hotmail is your preferred email choice, and you don't want it handled by Windows Live Mail, you can set Hotmail (via the web) as your default client: http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/224/1/ Gary VanderMolen "Phil Paxton" wrote in message news:2007917123953piook@xxxxxx Quote: > XP allows you to set the email as the default. | | Re: But XP lets you set webmail as the default I do not want to use a dedicated client. I want to use webmail (or rather my clients do). The most recent client wants to be able to have it open IE and go to his earthlink account's compose email page. He was able to do it in XP, and does not understand why he cannot do it in Vista. He, along with at least 5 other clients I have are so mad about this that they are talking about taking their computers back or if necessary buying a copy of XP. It is that big of a deal to those who do not know how to use Outlook, or Windows Live Mail. Personally I like Windows Live Mail and having all of my email accounts in one place. But to many they do not know how to set up clients, especially when they have to not only configure the program but the mail account on the server side as well. Microsoft NEEDS to fix this in an update ASAP! -- piook is a long standing psuedo-name that resulted from a typo on the old computer game "Where in the USA IS Carmen Sandiego", and it stuck. | | Re: But XP lets you set webmail as the default Thanks for the link, but it is not hotmail in this case. Nor is it GMail which I have also seen a download for. In this case it is Earthlink and Juno, neither of which support POP access for free accounts. So this leave my clients having to copy the addresses from Windows Mail to a their webmail's compose page to send email to people whom they used to be able to click on a link and viola! IE would open and take them to that page with the send info where it needed to be. -- piook is a long standing psuedo-name that resulted from a typo on the old computer game "Where in the USA IS Carmen Sandiego", and it stuck. | | Re: But XP lets you set webmail as the default I have no idea how this worked with Windows XP (or whether it did work), since OE was my default email client when I ran XP. Other than Hotmail, I haven't seen anything that will establish a website as the default email client under Vista.
