More trouble sending email....

I just started using Windows Mail this morning and can't send, although I can
receive. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.earthlink.net', Server:
'smtpauth.earthlink.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0F

Re: More trouble sending email....

First, read this:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

If you are using either McAfee or Norton antivirus, uninstall them
and replace with something less intrusive, like the free AVG or
Avast. Whichever antivirus you get, be sure it is configured NOT
to scan email.

Also, for the outgoing mail server you should be using port 587
instead of port 25, as required by your ISP:

Re: More trouble sending email....

Thanks - actually, I figured out it was merely a password problem. But I'm
keeping this info for the future.

Re: More trouble sending email....

Hmmm, the error message should have been entirely different for
a password problem.
