| | Certain E Mails Crash my VISTA Home Premium Occasionally, I will receive an e mail that when I try to open it, Windows Mail closes. I receive an Error Message saying: To help protect your computer, Data Execution Prevention has closed Windows Mail. Then, it is impossible to delete the message. I've tried unsuccessfully to mark it as read, but that's impossible as well. I've tried rebooting and then deleting the message only to have a repetition of this vicious circle. And the culprit e mail stays in my Inbox. Is this a known VISTA bug, or what? So far, it's been an occasional thing, so I haven't switched to Thunderbird for E Mail. TIA. Jef |

| | Re: Certain E Mails Crash my VISTA Home Premium The DEP error is rare, and I don't know what fixes it. The undeletable stuck email is a common WinMail (not Vista) bug. The latter may be caused by antivirus programs scanning email. The jury is still out on that. | | Re: Certain E Mails Crash my VISTA Home Premium Thanks, Frank. That did the trick. Without the preview pane, I was able to delete the message. Many thanks. | | Re: Certain E Mails Crash my VISTA Home Premium Thanks, Gary. I'd turned off the AV E mail scanning. That did not help. But Frank Saunder's suggestion to unselect the preview pane, and then I was able to delete the message. I don't understand how it works, but it definitely did the job and I could delete it.
