| | How many having E-mail deletion problems use Time Warner as their Maybe this is a long shot, but when AmmandaW mentioned in reply to my post, that she uses Time Warner Cable as her ISP, a light went on. I also use Time Warner as my ISP and I am curious how many others having this problem are also using Time Warner or one of it's subsidaries as their ISP? Is it possible that there is partially a problem with the WinMail program talking with the TWC servers? Some sort of problem between the two software programs? I'm just curious if this might be why no one has been able to solve this, because the problem is two fold? Anyways, I am still curious how many people use TWC, that are having this same problem. Thanks, LittleElf |

| | Re: How many having E-mail deletion problems use Time Warner as their There is no causal relationship between Time Warner and WinMail. We've had many posting here with problems from Comcast, Charter and AT&T/SBC. It makes sense that the biggest ISPs would have the most users writing in. Those who write in with server problems almost always have one of their account settings misconfigured. | | Re: How many having E-mail deletion problems use Time Warner as their 1. No, both Norton and McAfee antivirus (AV) are known to cause problems with Windows Mail. You are better off using one of the free AV programs: AVG or Avast. Whichever antivirus program you decide to use, it must be configured NOT to scan email. See http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 2. I don't know why you would have difficulty posting here. What happens when you click on New Post? | | Re: How many having E-mail deletion problems use Time Warner as th Gary, I didn't exactly mean a relationship between TWC and WinMail. I layed out my thoughts fairly clearly if you look below. I proposed that possibly, there might be a problem with Winmail talking to the TWC servers, implying that there might be a configuration problem between the two. Not that one was virtually the same as the other, because they were related. I know they are two separate companies. My uncle used to work for Microsoft, I wish he still did so I could find out where Microsoft stands on this issue and if they were going to take care of it sometime soon or not? | | Re: How many having E-mail deletion problems use Time Warner as th I understood exactly what you were saying. Take it from an email expert, there is absolutely no reason to consider the possibility of WinMail having trouble talking to the TWC servers or vice versa. | | Re: How many having E-mail deletion problems use Time Warner as their Hi Gary Thanks as usual. I will delete the McAfee. When I try to create a new message, I go to file, new, but no address. I tried putting microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail in my contacts but it says not a valid email address or something like that. I usually reply to group, but would like to ask questions w/out the subject different. Grrr, I feel so dumb!! Tks again Cindy "Gary VanderMolen" <gary@NoMail.invalid> wrote in message news:u1ayQahhHHA.960@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > 1. | | Re: How many having E-mail deletion problems use Time Warner as their Cynthia You do not delete programmes, you uninstall. Select Start, Settings, Control Panel, Programmes and Features. To create a new message select Message, New or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+N. You use File, New to create a new folder. If your cursor is placed anywhere in the list of messages for xx newsgroup when you select Message, New the newsgroup address is automatically entered, so there is no need to enter microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail in your list of Contacts. The Contact list is for email addresses not newsgroups addresses. In newsgroups, if replying, you should always use the Reply to Group option and place the cursor on the particular message you are replying before selecting Reply to Group. -- Hope this helps. Or you can click the word "Newsgroup" and it will give you a list of newsgroups. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup. Don't expect an answer to email. |
