| | Cannot send, but will recieve All of a sudden I cannot send e-mails. I hit send and nothing happens. No error messages or nothing. It acts like it sends, but nothing. I look in the sent box and there is nothring there. I sent an e-mail to one of my other accounts to double check and no good. I can send and recieve e-mail using Juno with no problems. I have McAfee and Windows Vista. I even did a restore back when it did work, nothing. Also when I try and send the e-mail it would usually go to the sent box and it doesn't and the e-mail also is gone. Mike |

| | RE: Cannot send, but will recieve Hi, I had the same problem with my former computer (why I now own this one complete with this new operating system that I dont have time to learn). Anyhow, it ended up to be a virus/spyware something called Spydawn. Whatever hit my computer sent out spam so my ISP (comcast) shut down my port. Took three weeks to fix, but ultimately the ISP had me set up my outgoing to channel through a different port. Hope it helps. "Mikten" wrote: > All of a sudden I cannot send e-mails. Join the club. This is a widespread problem in Windows Mail, and one where no fix is yet available from M$. The MVP's are not certain of the cause but have identified AV & Anti-Spam programs that scan email as being possible culprits? If you do remove your AV program I recommend using AVG Free from: http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/...nti-virus-free YMMV? When you install it, so far into the install choose custom install, and remove the checkmark from email scan. The following is posted Courtesy of Dr Steve Cochran MVP: Site owner http://www.oehelp.com/ First thing is to remove McAfee or Norton AV and antispam from the computer if they exist. You may need to visit their website to fully uninstall the product (for Norton see here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039. Then get something less invasive. There are a number of free antivirus programs, but with any you have to disable email scanning. See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 You can also try compacting and repairing the database using my WMUtil program (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/). After that, the only solution so far is to wipe out the database. So go to Tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Store Folder to find the message store location. Then move everything under that Windows Mail directory to another directory, so that the Windows Mail directory is completely empty. Then restart WinMail and it will open fresh with nothing in the database. You can then add your accounts and if they work correctly then you can drag messages from the directory to which you moved the files back into WinMail. When you move the message store, then the messages move with it. You can then drag them back into folders. See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for backup details. |

| | Re: Cannot send, but will recieve Check their website. I think someone posted the SMTP was 577 or something like that. <G> You can search here for Comcast and that should turn it up. steve "EvanMela" <EvanMela@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:80E454B7-616A-4C60-BA54-FF393B2596C6@microsoft.com... > Which ports did you use? | | Re: Cannot send, but will recieve Please don't assume that your problem is just like someone else's. Spell out your issue clearly and completely, complete with verbatim error messages (if any), and whoever is qualified to respond will do so.
