How do you set the default view for WinMail?

When my Windows Mail starts up it has 3 items in the left pane:

Local Folders with Inbox Outbox Sent Deleted etc
Microsoft Communities with all the Vista newsgroups (like this one!)
My local ISP Newsgroups with my subscribed newsgroups

It starts with all 3 items exploded, but as I dont use WinMail FOR mail, I'd
like that item 'shrunk' to just the heading and only Microsoft Communites
and Local ISP Newsgroups expanded so I can see their relevant contents
(Subscriptions) only.

IS that possible?

Tks for any help

Nope, that window pane can't be separated.
About all you can do is collapse the Local Folder and uncheck Tools |
Options | General tab "Automatically display folders with unread messages".

It "should" stay collapsed each time you start it if it's in the collapsed
state when shutdown. But I wouldn't lace any bets in Vegas on it.
