Is there an alternative?

Does anyone know of a news reader that will work on Vista. I've had enought
of MS Mail. It is a very poor replacement of Express, filled with excessive
"Unknown Errors" and corrupted databases.

I give up after two months.

There are several.
If you don't want to pay for one try Thunderbird but
if you want to access binaries there's Xnews.

I meant multipart binaries.
Thunderbird has no combine and decode function.

Re: Is there an alternative?

By any chance, are you using McAfee or Norton antivirus?
It seems like most people using those are experiencing that
type of error.

Re: Is there an alternative?

Yes, I am using McAfee. The same McAfee that I was using with MS Express
without problems.

Re: Is there an alternative?

That is the problem. See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 It was a problem in
OE as well, but it seems to be worse in WinMail.
